Senator Mike Flood was the featured speaker at the January Public Policy Forum. He offered Chamber members a look at what is ahead for the 2010 legislative session. At issue said Speaker Flood will be how legislation will impact the state budget.
“Senators have been real conscious about introducing anything that has a fiscal note,” said Flood.
The Senator from Norfolk took questions from Chamber members for most of the hour-long session. Among them were questions from audience members about how specific bills would impact their business or industry, but perhaps the most compelling response came when the Senator was asked about how he balances scheduling bills that may be controversial.
“Every Senator has their priorities,” said Flood. “It’s not up to me to decide whether or not I agree with them. It’s just up to me to give them their fair shot at having their priorities debated by a full body of our collegues.”
